I began painting large representational oil portraits in the early 1980’s when I knew I wanted to pursue a fine art career. I have painted consistently since then experimenting with different styles, media, and techniques. I have found comfort with a more free-flowing expressive style which is different from my original portrait series. I have always tended toward figurative subjects but recently I have expanded into nature and landscapes. I have found over the years that I am very inspired by the seasons and you will find them expressed in my work. I also have an affinity for the water...Beach, Pool, and Sand- I love it! Bright colors too! My most recent oil on canvas series are Fauvistic Landscapes. I call them Fauvistic because the elements of nature are there and true to life, but my colors are bright and bold and jumbled dreamlike abstracting the images. My brushstrokes and paint are the tools that permit me to capture and impact the different elements of the physical world. I am experimenting with nature and its designs of foliage, water and sky. Beginning with basic cloud and earth configurations I apply bursts of color to these elements creating a unique and pleasing effect. I also create three-dimensional artwork. My sculptures are representational and are covered in beautiful stained glass giving them a mosaic look. Each series is based on images from my past with the Circus theme being the latest.
