Bruce Vanderwilt

Biography

This short video of artist Bruce Vanderwilt was filmed at the 2010 Laguna Beach, Festival of the Arts. In this video Vanderwilt talks about the jury process he and others had to go through in order to be accepted in this juried art exhibition, and about the techniques he uses on his figurative oil paintings.

 

Living in Laguna Beach is to be among art and other artists continually. As I neared retirement I returned to my own pursuit of art and now either paint or draw almost every day.

Artist Statement

"I enjoy the process of oil painting with the idea that the medium has it's own identity that should be expressed. The image is a foil for this expressive use of paint, while working as a representational artist maintains the integrity if the subject matter.  My works surface is evidence of my creative activity which allows the viewer to visually participate in the process." 

Art Education

I Received an art degree from Cal State Univ. Long Beach and continue to learn through self education, selected instruction and artists workshops. The process never really ends.

Awards

Besides art competition awards, and inclusion in private collections, I continue as an exhibitor in the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts.
