Rory Moorer

Biography

Rory is a professional Award-winning Illustrator/ Graphic Artist who turned to painting in 2000. Since then he has created over 50+ original paintings and murals for commission, multiple public and private organizations and schools. In a decade, many of Rory's original paintings have been featured in national magazines and online news media. He has also donated original works to raise money for various institutions and charitable causes. Rory has participated in dozens of juried, and group exhibitons throughout the United States. He is currently represented by multiple galleries throughout North America. His style has been described by one critic as a multi-faceted a mixture of seriousness and offbeat humor that is also expressive in the study of movement and human emotions.

Artist Statement

Art Statement I try to keep my approach simple and paint, what interest and inspires me, which are various people, places and things. My overall goal has always been to have my body of work become a reflection of that. Collectively they all are in a way still lifes of my journey and life experiences, I strongly feel that all inspired art should contain little glimpses of the mind. I think the actual birth of a new idea/creation can be just as exciting as the completion of that very same idea. To me the idea of being in front of an empty paper/canvas with the possibility to forge and create something new, is really special and unique to me. There are so many possibilities, the themes and directions in which one can go, they are truely infinite. Trying out new styles, techniques & color schemes. I find myself constantly adjusting, changing approaches to this ever evolving craft. I genuinely love that aspect of it more than anything. After dozens and dozens of paintings I still really enjoy the rush and creative angst I get sitting in front of a blank canvas thinking of a theme and forging something unique." - Rory D. L. Moorer
