Lindsay Buchman

Biography

Lindsay Buchman is a California based artist whose work focuses primarily on printmaking. Combining mediums of collagraph, monotype, monoprint and intaglio, she strives for rich textures through the layering of ink. Each hand pulled print reveals a new story caught between abstractions and representational structures.

Since 2007, she has been an active member of Laguna Outreach for Community Arts, teaching numerous workshops within the Laguna Beach community. Lindsay is also involved as a printmaking instructor at Irvine Fine Arts Center. For the past four years, she has been a member of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society. Since 2008, she has been an exhibitor of Southern California's premier fine art exhibition, Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach. Currently, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking from California State University Long Beach.

Artist Statement

Printmaking has allowed me to bring contemporary appeal to my works on paper. Within my work there is a combination of both expressive and representational imagery. Each hand pulled print is composed of several layers of ink, creating rich textural qualities contrasted by structured and spontaneous forms. The exploration of metropolitan life has been the focal point for my latest impressions. Within this imagery the concept emerges, empowered with a sense of vitality. The metropolis lifestyle represents change, growth, and regeneration, symbolizing the past, present, and future. It is a visual sanctuary for my mind to wander, uncovering fragments of its substance and an infinite amount of inspiration.
