Description:

This is an etching, aquatint with chine colle. That is, the image is printed on Japanese rice paper (Kiti Kata) which is glued to the backing paper (Hahnemuhle Copperplate) by the pressure of the etching press. This gives the image an "old" feel. I wanted it to look like an artifact from the distant past. The plate size is 10x13 inches. The paper size is approx. 16x22 inches. Matted and framed it measures 18x24 inches. The edition size is 150. It is signed and numbered. The view is of 79th Street and Broadway on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, NYC.

Biography

Born in Brooklyn, NY 1951. Degree in architecture from CCNY in 1973. Quit architecture to be a full time artist in 1975.

Artist Statement

I don't believe in artist statements. I believe that the work should speak for itself. However, sometimes I get ideas and illustrate them, sometimes I see things and draw them. Sometimes it's a combination of the two.

Art Education

Began studying etching at the Art Students League in NYC in 1981.
