Teresa’s work is that of geometric abstraction and/or non-objective abstract art. It has an amorphous form and function; encompasses an evocative use of light, shape and form; and/or, its composition is non-representational.
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts for Art at California State University at Northridge and studying at California Institute of Art, Westlake, Teresa paints, works with mixed media, and experiments in other creative projects.
She has immersed herself in reinventing, recreating and rediscovering the processes she works with when creating her artwork. She currently uses acrylic paint, paper, glazing mediums, as well as, oil paint on wood panel.
Her pieces arise mainly from her imagination. They might be a childhood dreamscape or adult inclination. She is influenced by a number of artists, and a number of memories. Aboriginal and African Art, Albers, Berger, Chagall, Klimt, Newman, Rauschenberg and Stella, to name a few.
Affiliated with and/or representing her are Gallery 825/LAAA, WallSpaceLA, and Hale Arts Space. She has exhibited at VIVA Gallery, Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, LARK Galleries, Museum of Latin American Art, Santa Monica Art Studios, and Sulkin/Secant Gallery and Phantom Galleries. Teresa has received several awards, such as, an honorable mention for “Yes”, “Finding Your Roots” and “Colors of Life” at LARK Galleries. She has also received a 3rd place in “Score VII” at VIVA Gallery.

My work is that of geometric abstraction and/or non-objective abstract art. It has an amorphous form and function; encompasses an evocative use of light, shape and form; and/or, its composition is non- representational.
The theme of my current work is uncommunicative space vs. communicative space. In my art, space speaks through the relationship between the elements of the design. My pieces embrace the mundane, the intellectual experience, and the passions of my life. I see my work as a kind of "boundary breaking" going "outside the box". I create landscapes rooted in geometry.
In an effort to reinvent an approach to my artwork, I have come across something more relevant and more obscure than that of geometric abstraction. Although, that remains a backbone of my work.
My newly developed non-objective abstract work is a product of my older geometric abstract work. The older body of work lays the foundation of the “map” of the new body of work. This “map” serves as the foundation or backbone to the new pieces in which I develop a new organic composition using light, shape, and form. The new organic compositions integrate with the backbone and create an entirely new atmosphere within the work itself. I work in the older geometric abstract form, simultaneously, and give way to new ideas and inspirations as they develop.
My marks delineate movement, using deep vs. shallow space. The hue, saturation and value of the colors used juxtapose each other, creating a spatial connection pushing and pulling the eye forward and backward. All of my work represents space beyond space, or space taken out of context and recreated to represent a new form and/or function of that same space. That space may be uncommunicative and/or communicative.
The new work is a more organic personification of my art. These pieces are not a geometric shape or group of shapes, but something with a completely different mode of expression. The glazes give the canvas a certain mood. The color scheme used is varied. The collage material is organic and expressive in nature.
Only when a piece is finished, do I get a new perspective of the whole piece. Each piece is a separate entity with its own statement, although, it works as part of a larger body of work. The new work stems from the older body of work, namely, the geometric abstractions, and both will continue to evolve as geometric abstraction and/or non-objective abstract art.
