DOYLE D. SHAW BIOGRAPHY Spanish Fork, Utah
Utah artist Doyle Shaw was born in Boise, Idaho and studied art at the University of Utah with the late Alvin Gittins in portrait and figure. He also studied independently with LeConte Stewart in landscape painting. who happened to live 3 blocks away in the same town of Kaysville, Utah.
After teaching a year at the University of Utah, Doyle opened a studio for full-time fine art; over the years numerous shows have followed, both one-man and combined with a number of awards garnered.
Of his work it has been said: “Doyle Shaw is a realist-impressionist landscape and figure painter of juicy pigments and sonorous color. His canvases are tried to nature with a silver-toned thread with themes resounding with the spirit of the west. He can paint toe-to-toe with most contemporary American painters and in this will be recognized as a fine artist.” Vern G. Swanson P.H.D.
Director of the Springville Art Museum
Art Historian, Author and Educator
“Doyle Shaw understands the accelerated problems involved in painting a large painting, while painting a large pile of rocks in the foreground are infused with a fiery energy he balanced with cool and worm colors, lost and found edges with a lacy tracery of muted yellow quakes off in the distance, he may have given me the desire to do landscapes again”
