Catherine Gauldin
Biography
My name is Catherine Gauldin and I have been an Architectural Illustrator since 1983. I graduated with a degree in Architectural Design from Texas A&M University and with the exception of a couple of years when I worked for several Architectural firms, have been engaged full time in that eye-straining yet rewarding occupation. For the past ten years I have had the opportunity to travel extensively in both the United States and in Europe, and I cherish both the privilege of being able to experience first hand the great Architecture of the world and the ability to translate images I have seen and photographed into Architectural and Fine Art.
Artist Statement
I chose Architecture as a profession because I love to draw; I also draw what I love. I record what I've experienced and illustrate remnants of the places I've been and the people I've met all over the world. I tend to capture the image first as a photograph and then translate it into a very detailed Pastel and Colored Pencil drawing and although I no longer limit myself in terms of subject matter, though I value the discipline of photography because it forces me to take note of the overlooked details of the environment in which we live.
