Biography
A person of diverse talents and abilities, Ms. Hurley is a painter in multiple mediums as well as a renowned sculptor and educator. She has been recognized as a master artist by the numerous awards received and her works are included in notable collections across the country. Regina's paintings are wonderfully expressive and convey strong emotions with the ingenious use of color, artistic style and composition. Regina’s highly original bronze sculptures range from tabletop to monumental in size. Her sculptures inspire the viewer to explore and share in the beauty and strength found in nature and to go beneath its surface to reveal the inner spirit.. Quoting John J. McDonough, founder and patron of the Youngstown University of Art and prominent collector, “Regina displays in her sculpture the strength and power reminiscent of the French Master Rodin. She clearly reveals the direction of this super force and beauty.” George and Mary Lou Boone, notable patrons and collectors, commissioned Regina’s monumental bronze “Looking for Treasures.” George Boone’s words: “Regina is a dedicated artist who creates works of art that touch the heart of people from all walks of life. Hearts glow when they see her sculpture.” This monumental sized bronze is currently in their private collection, and will be added to the Huntington Library and Museum in San Marino, California. In all her works, her creativity, talent and technical skills combine to make exciting art, rich and beautiful.
Artist Statement
Observing the world around me, I combine the shapes, colors and textures that best express what I see and feel. Preferring a world of splendor, beauty is what I usually find. It draws me like a magnet. It is a fascinating journey of discovery: beauty existing all around me and yet not always where I expect to find it.
