Emily Lane

Biography

Emily has a BFA in graphic design from Rhode Island School of Design. Although she has been doing graphic design since graduating from RISD, her love for painting, even during the RISD years, has slowly evolved into painting full-time and only doing minimal graphic design. Her goal is to only continue with painting.

Artist Statement

My experience from working as a graphic designer has allowed me to see the empty canvas the way I view a new brochure to design. Composition, design elements, color and overall look are important in any medium I use. My mixed-media paintings consist of acrylics, textured papers, textured gel mediums, oils and oil pastels. Brush strokes and textures are very important in my work and I like working on different parts of the canvas to create small paintings within paintings.
